Is it possible to get pictures back off a mobile phone once it's been reset?

I deleted pictures off an old mobile phone (Sony Ericsson - W800) and reset the whole phone. But now it seems I might need the pictures back. Is it possible to get them? I'm pretty sure the police can do it, but can a civilian?
 
:( Thats exactly what happened to me i deleted photos as much as i did there was no use on getting them back as soon as u delete them the chip on ur fone tracks it and just completly takes away the file u may go to a phone store and they will open your phone nd check the
chip in ur phone where it stores and sends files from .

But im sure there gone becus once u delete them it sends a signal and the divice gets it and takes it but if u take to a police station they can track through all the phone signals but thats if ur willing to go to the police station

No, if you reset a phone back to its factory settings, your pictures should still be there. But since you deleted them first I don't think its possible.
