Ok well i have a friend who just got out of surgery getting her appendix removed. She's been in the hospital since monday... said her stomach was hurting. THe thing is this is a girl who tenRAB to fabricate things... make a ant hill into a mountain. She had an ultrasound last week that came back normal... she's had tests all this week all coming back normal... MY dad went to visit her the other night and he said she didnt really look that sick. Today they decided they would go in with a scope to look around and go ahead and take the appendix because they have no clue what it is. Im not saying shes faking or anything, because i know usually they dont put u in the hospital unless they think your sick. But for a month off and on she's said that her stomach hurts so i guess after going to the doctor so many times they wanted to figure it out. The other night she had a fever and her mom called an arabulance because she had a fever so she thought it was her appendix... but my dad said she didnt look sick and she's up and around and stuff.
I love her to death and im not saying at all that shes faking or anything, it very well could have been lol but im wondering is it possible to fabricate symptoms to the point of the doctors thinking it's appendicitis even when all tests are negative? Thanks :)

A lot of healthy appendixes get taken out every year because the surgery is not very dangerous but a burst appendix is life threatening.

I can tell you that when I got appendicitis, I was up walking around with very little pain but I was sweating horribly and my WBC was 20,000. I just felt sick more than anything else. They got it out just before it ruptured and I was out playing basketball 4 days later.

You can't tell. But with ultrasound and blood work, they usually don't go in unless they have reason to believe it could be an appendix.

Either way, it's out now so she can't try to do that again, can she?

yep. plus i doubt that she would go as far as to try to get surgery if she was faking.. but its out now :)

What it could be is painful cramps from her period and she may have a thiing called Polycystic ovary syndrome.Which could lead to serious pain in the stomach.

My son actually suffered with this. A grurabling appendix. He went for several months on and off with severe abdominal pains. finally it was so bad that we went to the hospital at 3 am. and he was in surgery by 5 with one very hot appendix removed. So yes, it does happen. But as the surgeon told me, with girls there are more internal organs that can be causing pain than with boys....
