My freinds caravan was in a wreck, they just rebuilt the transmission, and we want to try and salvage it to sell it on ebay or something, we arnt motivated enough to take it to a garage and get a lift, will it be possible to drop the transmission, with only jack stands, on site at the yard using only an impact wrench, sockets and other neccessary tools, if we remove the wheels and axles, and unbolt it?

Any guidance would be appreciated, such as the easiest way to remove it, things that can be removed that may be in the way, anythign helpfull

Its the 6 cyclinder fwd automatic
Ive never dropped a transmission, but one time i saw a guy do it, and all he did was unbolt like 6 bolts and slide it off, it was off an sbc with rwd though, is there anythign i need to disconect other than....linkage to shifter controls, wirign clips, axles and the bolts that hold it to the engine before sliding it off?

The easiest way in your case would be to drop the entire front lower subframe . That would get the engine and transmission assembly out in the open.May need dollies to move the truck out of the way once its down. We use an old cut-down shopping cart with a plywood deck to lower them onto-you can roll the assemblty out from under the truck then

Sure. Have a tranny jack on hand to take the strain off the bolts when you get close to having it loose.

Pull the CV axles off first, from both ends. No point messing with those.
