is it possible to buy t-mobile prepaid sim card ONLY? where can i buy?

i am going to the US from the philippines. i am bringing my Nokia 2690 unlocked with me which i use in the philippines. Is it possible if i purchase a t-mobile prepaid sim only and place it in my cellphone? will it work? will i get a t-mobile signal? Please Please kindly help me... Thank you.
