Is it possible to be an architect and published fiction author at the same time?

thats totally possible!!!!!!! those are both great careers, and i actually plan to be both... you can just write in your spare time.

The vast majority of published fiction authors write in their spare time and have another career as well. Only the very successful can afford not to.

So it's not only possible, it's probable.

I cant see why you couldn't do both! If people i know can be a mum and work full time jobs, i think that proves that anything is possible!

For example, I am a mum, i have 3 jobs and i read, ALOT!, and i have just started writing myself!

Good Luck!

It is possible to do both. If you are destined to be a great author then your first couple of books will return enough capital that you will be able to afford to choose whether to do it full time.

Yes, of course it's possible. Even some published authors need more money. It's not uncommon for writers to take jobs to help them pay the bills. You can definitely juggle the two if you have the determination and patience.

Sure you can. In fact, most writers do not make enough money to write full-time, so they need a day job that pays the bills. There are scientists who write Part-time, stay-at-home moms with toddlers, police officers, high school and college teachers, you name it, and you'll find that they're not full-time authors.

If you want to be a full-time author, meaning your only source of income comes from your books, then you'll have to give up your day job, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

Good luck.

Not really an exact answer but I'll tell you what I'm doing maybe it'll give you an idea.

I'm an MBA. After working in a corporation for a bit I realised that your creativity sorta gets limited. So I ventured into Advertising. However, after exploring a bit I've dumped everything to be Assistant Editor at a Music Magazine, which is completely unrelated to all my education and experience i.e the only qualification that I have is an interest.

That said I'm guessing you're really young and the time to experiment with full-time writing would be now. I'm all of 23 but by abut 25 you need to be committed to something full time. Otherwise you won't make much progress either way and it would just be a waste.
