CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT? MY 4 RUNNER QUIT ON 22ND OF DECEMBER. I STOPPED FOR GAS AND SHUT IT OFF AND IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. ASSUMED HAVING BATTERY PROBLEMS. A FRIEND JUMPED THE BATTERY AND IT FIRE UP. ON MY WAY HOME IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR. I CALLED A LOCAL GARAGE TO GO GET IT THE NEXT MORNING AND WHEN I STOPPED AT THE SHOP TO CHECK ON MY TRUCK THE MECHANIC SAID THE VEHICLE WAS JUNK AND EVERYTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT (ENGINE, BELTS, ETC) AND SAID IT WOULD COST UP TO 8 THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR IT. I COULD NOT AFFORD THAT SO MY TRUCK HAS SAT IN FRONT OF THE REPAIR GARAGE SINCE DECEMBER 23RD. MY DAD SUGGESTED HAULING IT ON HIS TRAILER TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT IN ANOTHER TOWN FOR A SECOND OPINION. AS WE WERE TRYING TO TOW THE VECHILE TODAY TO HIS TRAILER ACROSS TOWN WE COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO GO FROM PARK INTO DRIVE. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS EVER. MY 4 RUNNER WAS NOT BURNING OIL AND IF BELTS WERE GOING I THINK I WOULD HAVE HEARD THEM SQUEALING OR SOMETHING. THIS IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW. WAS JUST WONDERING IF IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT IF NOT TOWED PROPERLY. I LOOKED UP THE PRICE OF THE TRANSMISSION AND TURNS OUT IT COSTS MORE THAN WHAT IT BOOKS FOR.
