Is it possible for a naturally dark brown hair to turn into a medium or light brown?

I have a naturally dark brown hair. I am planning to go to the salon and get my hair dyed to a medium brown - light brown. I want maybe two shades lighter than my dark brown. I also do not want any shades of orange, green or red though. So do you think it will be possible for the proffessionals to actually turn my dark hair into a medium - light brown in just one visit without getting a tint of red, orange or green? Cause i dont want to spend alot too though.
Please give advices!!
