My mom had a Betta that I took to my home to care for while she went out of town. When I went to take the bowl, the fish seemed slightly bent. It was not able to swim much and it still could swim when I poured 1/2 the volume of water out, for air and obviously for food. It has been 1&1/2 months and it never recovered, but it still swims for food and air. Could it have broken it's back when my mother cleaned the bowl and transferred him to another? I did not have the heart to flush it or put it in the garbage disposal like my husband suggested (quick and painless according to him). I figured as long as he can still eat and get air just to keep it that way.
