is it pointless to image my PC after Windows not being able to boot?

used a boot CD to image my corrupted Windows into .wim file. now i am wondering if it's a good idea to apply that image. would corrupted components be applied as well?
 
Taking an image of your hard drive is a lot like taking a photograph. When you re-apply the image it will indeed apply all the operating systems error that were there when the image was taken.

So yeah the corrupted software components will be applied aswell.

Always best to take an image after re-installation of the OS and when you are happy with the base build. (before anything goes wrong)
