I have OS X Tiger, the actual disc - however it's a DVD and I'm trying to install it on a machine with only a CD-ROM drive and cannot swap it. I found a torrent that has it in CD form - my question, would it be technically legal for me to do this? I own the media, it's just in a different format. I thought as long as you paid for your fair use of the media you can download from things like that - same thing if you actually own a real disc of any other program.
Or am I mistaken? I know the assumption is people torrenting are all downloading things they don't own, but for example some things I own the disc somewhere but I have lost. Would those things be okay for me to download from a torrent as long as I paid for the original version of it and it's currently not in use by anyone else (In that if I bought it once, it's only being used on one computer)?
