Is it okay to publish two novels similar to each other?

The basic plots of my two romances are similar. They are both narrated in third-person omniscient. In short, sexy man falls in love with an otherwise penniless, orphaned, beautiful woman who is really royalty or magical, and in real physical danger (in one she is aware at the beginning, and in the other story, she isn't remotely aware at first but becomes so later). Male character encounters near-death situation, and believes girlfriend to be dead, but around end it is revealed that she is not.

The characters themselves, time-line and era (present-day versus mid-1900s), setting, and supporting characters differ. They are so different and each are so preserve-able, in my opinion, that I do not wish to merge them. Also, one contains more action, the other more fantasy.

If you had read two such novels from one author, would you be pleased nonetheless, or irked to the point that you had wished you had read only one piece, possibly merged? (They will be published close together in time -- same year, perhaps.)
