Is it ok to try to catch neighborhood cats with a fishing pole and hook?

I enjoy fishing, but I live about an hour away from the lake. Would it be acceptable to just get a fishing pole out, bait it with some minnows, and then cast it out over the deck, and wait for the cat to smell it, and then see if I am able to catch it? I could possibly sprinkle the minnow with Cat Nip as a sort of attractant. I plan on getting a big enough hook to be able to go through the cats cheek or throat, and support the weight of the cat, and I hope to locate some 10 lb line, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I also hope to be able to wait until the cat just bites onto the minnow then yank the line just to set it into the cat's cheek, then let the cat fight a little, and maybe even let it pull away a little, but keep steady tension on the line, to keep it fighting, until it gets too tired out to fight it anymore, and then I will begin to reel it in.

I'm just wondering if yall think I should be humane, and follow the "catch and release" guidelines, by yanking the hook out of the cat's mouth, and then throwing it back into the yard where I caught it, or do you think it would be alright if I was just a little less humane, and instead of throwing it back into the yard with a wounded mouth, I just cooked it up and ate it?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I'm trying to decide what exactly to do.

Also, as a side note, does anyone know anything that works better than minnow and catnip?
