Is it ok to start a fundraiser to earn money to start a business?

I wanted to start a business, and thought of starting a fundraiser. I'm not sure if it would be ok to do this, I only ever see fundraiser's for charity's and donation-like causes. Do you think it's ok to do this to earn money to start a business? Thanks to everyone for the help! :)
 
if you have a "fundraiser", at least part of the profit (normally at least half) has to go to a cause other than just your pocket...
