Is it ok to remove heat shield from a dodge dakota?

If it is on the car in the first place leave it be. You can make sure it is secured properly which should help with the noise.
 
My dakota is only a 4cyl so it doesnt generate alot of heat compared to v6's and v8's. My heat shield (i think), is rattling ALOT and it gets very annoying and loud and sounds bad..can i just take it off? If not, how can I make it stop rattling without having to replace it??
 
It is there for a purpose so think about it. Would you like to be stripped on in Siberia?
