Is it OK to pack sealed iPAD & net book in checked baggage ? US to India travel?

Is it OK to leave a brand new sealed ipad & netbook in checked baggage
while traveling internationally US to India.

I thought if we taken them in carry on baggage, when they screen in India when we get off- the customs would give a hard time ?

Am I wrong.
