Is it ok to keep a secured wireless router on all the time?

Is it ok to keep a wireless router on all the time.. It has a complete security.. Sometimes, when I turn it off, it takes too long to turn up & also the internet speed becomes slow afterwards...But when I keep it always on, there's no issue regarding speed. Please guide. Thanks.
