Is it ok to go to a dance with a guy you like, but not go out with them?

i think so. you have to date before "going out". do you know what i mean?
dating is just testing the waters, going out is the whole relationship thing.
 
If they want ask to go out, of course.

Because I kind of like this guy (who I think likes me) and would like to go to Winter Ball with him, but I don't currently want a boyfriend. Is that a big deal?
