hi im a senior in a catholic private high school and i have a teacher who teaches Doctrine (theology class) and first off thats my number 1 topic cause im a very devout catholic, and second i love the teacher teaching it cause he's mad chill and very nice and laid back. plus im getting an easy "A" in his class. but i remem, ber one class i asked him what he majored in college and he said that he majored in theology and philosophy but heres the thing he only got a bachelors degree in them. now not that i care nor do i want to become a teacher, but do teachers need not just a master's degree, but a master's degree in any type of education course? jw thats all. i mean i really dont give a crap hes a great teacher better than everybody else in that school, even better then the people who have doctors degrees.

A few states require a masters degree to teach public school, but most don't. Private schools can hire anyone they want, even if they wouldn't be able to teach at a public school.

No you dont need a masters degree to teach, although it may make it easier when looking for a job. I would assume that he has gotten a Bachelor of Education and majored in theology and philosophy. Otherwise he would not be allowed to teach, and yeah school do look up these things. So no maters but education certificate he would have.
