Is it ok for a small dog (11 lbs) to eat a handful of cherries, pit and all?

I'm worried that the pits will get caught in her and she will need surgery to get them out. We have a cherry tree and she like to eat them. She use to spit out the seed, now she is eating the whole thing.

Not good at all. Pits contain cyanide. Cyanide can kill.
