Is it OCD???

I'm not real sure whether this fits here or not so if it doesn't, MODs please move.

Anyway, I live in a hick town in north-western Tennessee, thus I hear my share of aweful English and grammer. This makes me want to kill the person in question. I find myself correcting everyone I meet, and I do this reflexively, I'm not trying to be a smartass but I say it before I think it. I've tried everything I can think of to stop this, but I get mad, and in some cases, physically ill from listening to people use improper grammer. It's not even the big, indepth errors that I'm sure everyone makes, but small things like subject/verb agreement and the correct use of pronouns that makes me want to scream. There have been times when I had to leave the room because of so much poor English. I've corrected everyone, too. Teacher, principals, preachers, parents, people in stores that I don't even know, and friends. I've gotten in loads of trouble for insulting people by correcting them. I barely use chatrooms any more because the blaring mistakes make my head hurt. I think I may really have OCD or something. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

I think you need relax a little bit. I don't know if you have a "condition", but you defiantly should look into it. Go see a specialist or something. Other than that, just try to calm down. It's human nature to make mistakes, it shouldn't bother you that much.

Were you a spelling bee champ nail? It's ok you can tell me. Does that word have a meaning I remember looking it up once. Sorry if this is off topic.

It's not OCD. I know cuz I used to do exactly the same thing and I still do a lot of times. My mom grew up in a very proper french/polish home. (My NaNa's family had maids and she went to finishing school, so some of that was bound to rub off on my mom.) So everything gramatically is virtually perfect, otherwise you get corrected. Doesn't matter what you said. If it wasn't exactly right, you got corrected. So of course it rubbed off on me too. I used to get criticized for it all the time by my friends. So then I started mentally correcting them. That way I was satisfied and I didn't nag everyone to death. If you have to work on mentally correcting others if the grammer is bugging you so much.

I correct people too, just not all the time. I have a real problem when people use the word "seen" incorrectly. It actually sends chills down my spine to hear people say, "I seen...." That's one I will correct every single time no matter who says it or when. I HATE hearing it. I don't know why it bugs me so much, maybe just because it's so obvious.

Did I say anything about spelling.

Nope.

Didn't think so, there is a big difference between grammar and spelling. Grammar is the correct use of pronouns, verb tenses, and the like. Spelling is, well that's pretty much self-explanatory.

Haha, second place.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is just a nonsense word.

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is a real word though. It's a lung disease caused by breathing volcanic ash.
