Is it not common to go to a restaurant alone?

The other day, I went to Buffalo Wild Wings alone. When the lady asked how many were with me, I said just myself. She was shocked but took me to a table. I began wondering if it was wrong to go alone, and looking around, everyone else sitting down had someone with them. I was very uncomfortable. Is it not common to enter a restaurant like this alone?
