Is it normal to have a false negative from a home pregnancy test?

It could be that the "period" was implantation spotting. If so, it won't be positive for another week or so. Good luck tomorrow.

I started what I think is my period a week early, which is very abnormal for me because I'm taking hormones (to prevent cysts) which keep me from spotting, and I've always been regular. Anyway, I called my doctor because of this, and she said I could be pregnant. I told her I already took a PT and it was negative, but she said it's still possible and I'm going to see her tomorrow (she'll check other things as well).

Anyway, there wasn't even a faint line to indicate pregnancy. Does anyone here have experience with false negatives? How common is this? Thanks!

Even though pregnancy test have come a long way there is still a possibility that they can give you a false negative answer. It's not as common as it use to be, but it is still common. The only way to be completely sure is by visiting your doctor.
