Is it normal to find birds and other wildlife in your hedge?

I was in the gardens there and saw two little robins fly into my hedge and when I went to look closer I saw what looks like a nest, I've seen squirrels in there and a little cat was hiding in my hedge out of the rain and wind a few days ago, I left out some milk for it as I wasn't sure if I was homeless or not.
