Is it normal or bad for bicycle drop bars to give me bruises on my arms?

I ride a fixed gear bicycle with handle bars that are drops (resemble ram horns) and I am getting bruises on my arms where my arm contacts the top of the drop bar, when my hands are on the lower part of it. The area on my arms are like 3 inches away from my wrists, the inner top part of my arms. Does this mean I should just get larger drop bars? or would wrapping with grip make the drops make any difference? Because im comfortable doing what im doing now, its just that having fat bruises mainly on my right arm is kind of distracting.

something isnt right. you have the drops rolled to far foward or something. the bottoms (flat part) of drops should be level with ground, and your arms shouldnt be hitting unless your stem is way too short or something. it is hard to picture what's happening, but something isnt right in your postion on the bike. as for how harmful, i guess it depends on how much the bruises bother you.

Your arms shouldnt hit the drops. Refit or use a different hand position.
