Is it normal for teenagers to listen to classical music and read classic lit/poetry?

I'm having a hard time finding other teenagers who read Frost, Poe, Shakespeare, Hemingway, etc, and I've found absolutely NO ONE in my generation who's even heard of Brian Crain, Jim Brickman, Yiruma, James Onahon, Mark Salona, etc. It's wonderful reading and brilliant piano music, but my friends make fun of me for it and call me a nerd. They won't even give the stuff a chance! Am I just abnormal, or nerdy, or... something? Thoughts, anyone?
I never did claim to be superior to you, Jonathan, and I definately am not talented in certain school courses. If Shakespeare's works have no meaning, why on earth would they still be studied and read in classrooms HUNDREDS of years after they were written? If these are the kind of close-minded answers you give, I suggest you hold your tongue before you shove your foot in your mouth any farther than it already is.
