Is it necessary to use business size checks for business use?

I need to reorder my business checks, but am finding better pricing and variety in the desk size (6" x 2.75") vs. business size (8.25" x 3"). Is there a reason businesses are supposed to use business size checks, or at this point does it just legitimize your business by perception?
