Is it my computer or my PDA????

Ok, haven't gotten any responses from my other post, so I thought I would ask this. I purchased a PDA from ebay. It was supposed to be new, claimed it was used 3 weeks, it's been registered by the previous owner, so basically right this second I'm SOL. I'm trying to figure this out....is it my PDA or something with the computer.

I had a T3. It went spastic on me one day. Was jumping around without my pushing anything. I did reset after reset and finally broke down and did the hard reset. Still some problems, but the PDA is better. It's possessed part of the time now.

Anyway, I went and put the TX from ebay. Well I've had all kinds of problems with it. Thought it might be the 3rd party software, so I did a hard reset. I beamed my contacts and calendar. I did not sync anything. Well I tapped an icon and nothing happened. I pushed the buttons at the bottom. It gave me something, but not what I pushed. But tapping icons left me basically with a frozen PDA. So once again, I did a hard reset. Now I can't get past the calibration part. I let the PDA run down for a few hours and still nothing. I've done countless hard resets.

I phoned Palm last night, that's where I found it had been registered. The impossible to speak with and understand person from Palm wouldn't give me much info - like when did it originally get registered and were there any previous problems. He suggested I contact the ebay seller and find out if it had been serviced previously and would be take it back. Then he said buy a new one in a package.

I'm trying my hardest to make this work. And I want to be sure that it's not something on my end that is screwing things up. Last thing I downloaded 3rd party-wise was a software package from Betty Crocker that was supposedly compatible with Palm. Well that did not work properly and I find out after going online that the company has issues with this software and the Palm. I've deleted it from my Palm, but it still shows up in my Palm desktop. How do I get rid of this? I can't find it anywhere. I don't want to delete the whole pc portion of this software, because I spent hours entering my own recipes into this.

Any suggestions. I'm desperate before I email this guy from ebay.

Thanks, Cyndy

I would strongly suggest a hard reset again since you say you have put software on it that you cannot get rid of. Also, just because software is made for "Palm" does not mean it works on the TX. There are lists of programs that do work on the TX which you can Google for if any software does not say it is specifically for the TX.

You may have a problem as simple as a piece of debris lodged between the touch screen and the screen bezel. This can cause the unresponsiveness you have described. A poorly installed screen protector will do the same thing as debris. Use a thin piece of paper and slide it around under the bezel to see if you can remove any particles that don't belong there.

If you cannot make the TX respond properly immediately after a hard reset (and after cleaning around the bezel) it would appear to be defective.
