preaches abstinence? Seems to me that it is relevant. Sarah Palin advocates abstinence only sex education in schools and yet it is clear, from her own child's experience, that this does not work.

The point is that Sarah Palin advocates abstinence only sex education in schools and her own experience shows that it doesn't work. Kids will experiment with sex and telling them not to doesn't stop them doing it, but telling them how to protect themselves against pregnancy and STDs does.
If Bristol Palin's mother allowed proper sex education in schools, and was open about discussing such matters at home, then perhaps she wouldn't be pregnant now.
Misty your own experience shows that preaching abstinence doesn't work, but you still back it being taught in schools? I always thought you were smarter than that, but it's you that needs to grow up a little - and get your head out of the sand while you're at it!

Wanda - yes, agreed, teenagers do need to be taught to use their common sense and self control and also to respect themselves and others, as well as the mechanics of how to use contraception. It all goes together.
Misty - perhaps if you'd taught your boys about contraception rather than expecting them to wait until they were married, they wouldn't have run around getting girls pregnant!! And lord only knows what nasties they've picked up and given out along the way.
You're pretty dumb for a grandma.
