spent under RoO Act 1974? Please provide under which law someone might be prevented from doing this and also if any law prevents the transfer of data to another party outside the UK. I believe the Data protection act might not apply as all the convicted have their personal details, details of the offence and punishment published in the local paper at the time of conviction.

I found details of my expired record (the publication of convictions as described above) provided by a UK newspaper to a US archiving company freely available on the internet. It wasn't there last year (I search annually for hits on my name) and am quite upset as I am currently looking for a job and don't want something like this to impede my progress when its a simple driving conviction which is now spent.
