Is it legal to lock your bike anywhere you go?

Not only is it legal, it is highly recommended. With the high price of gas, more people are beginning to ride bicycles and stores are beginning to put bike racks out front. Unfortunately, people will steal anything these days. My daughter had the two lower fog/ running lights stolen off her car while in a parking lot. It used to be said that if you didn't want something stolen, nail it down. Now, they not only steal the item but the nails as well.

I don't understand how this can cross your mind. Why wouldn't it be legal?

One answer mentions a fire hydrant, of course. Can't park a car in front of one either.

Don't lock it in the way of anything, but lock it. They don't like people bringing their bikes inside. I did and I was asked to not bring my bike into Wal-Mart any more. Had to prove to them it was my bike before leaving. They actually thought my Orbea was from their bicycle department and I was leaving without paying for it. Go figure.
