Is it legal to drive your car with no M.O.T when taking it back for repair and re-test?

My M.O.T expired today and failed. Im booked back in on wednesday to get it repaired and re-tested. Is it illegal to drive with no M.O.T when driving directly back to the garage for repair and re-test??
