Are they allowed to discuss pupils with other people who are not teaching staff at the same school? Including personal issues the student may have or general discussion about the student?
(In the UK)
Is there any specific law though? Anything where I could say, "well thats illegal what you've done" ?

IS it legal ?

Well it's not illegal, but it's extremely unprofessional
If you're not comfortable with it, then please speak to the head teacher of your school

It's not illegal just unprofessional, in the same way that doctors, and priests shouldn't talk about their clients - nothing in the law to stop them, just their profession recommends a bit of thought about what they say.

It depends on who the other people are. Gossiping is unprofessional, and the teacher's should be careful not to do that. If it's got back to you that a teacher has spread info about you to inappropriate people, then you need to speak to your house tutor or the head. Make sure you go with evidence, though.
