Is it legal for an employer to request to go to a doctor's appoint even if it is not work comp.?

I had severe case of plantar fasciitis and the doctor had me off for 6 weeks. Employer allowed me to come back on light duty but wants to go to next Dr. Appt.
I have been going to physical therapy and am up to 85% of my weight. They offered me a position as regular job until I was healed.
