...morning? My wife's power hungry supervisor has gone on another rampage and has asked that all phones be surrendered to her DESK every morning when the girls get in. Mind you...I do believe that there have been abuses in the workplace when it comes to employees being on FACEBOOK apps while supposed to be working...but My understanding is that she can not search your pockets to find a phone for them to surrender. She is placing them on her desk every morning. Isn't that somehow violating their privacy? Not sure...but would appreciate TRUE genuine answers from ppl that know the labor laws...Don't be rude either please!
 
If it is written in company policy and employee consents, then, yes. As for an impromtu power trip, those are subject to question.
