...the record" reference? I signed up with a large staffing agency in MN after having my position taken away from me due to me getting sick and missing a month of work. I had previously been signed up with this agency and they had called me in the past for potential positions. I met with them and gave them 4 professional references like they had requested but they wanted to contact my past employer (who I found out is a client of this agency for my previous position) they wanted details why I left, why I didn't like it etc. I advised I didn't want that employer contacted because I didn't work there long enough for him to be a reference and with me being sick at the end of my employment. The interview seemend to go well, meeting with 3 different recruiters.
This week I had my unemployment hearing because my preivous employer is fighting that and during the recorded phone interview he had all of my information verbatim what I told this staffing agency during my interview. He had every date I was there or called them and all these other things I had talked about in confidence.
I then called the staffing agency and the recruiter said she never had any intention of representing me because I wouldn't look her in the eye and my skirt was too short. I asked if you as the agency, why didn't you tell me I was dressed inappropriately and she said well you are just a liar and you have bad character. I said I know you have talked to my past employer without my permission. She said she can do whatever she wants it's not illegal and it was an "Off the record" reference check because I had supposed shady behavior and she had t get to the bottom of it. I feel I am being railroaded. They represented me before but now that he my past employed has bad mouthed me and said I was too young this agency will no longer represent me. I know it is because of what he said, but she said it is my short skirt. My outfit was a suit with a skirt that came down to my knees. I am thin and the recruiter was at least 300 so that might play nto my friend said. Please help me.
