Is it just me, or do people automatically regurgitate the talking points

from the news station that they watch It is interesting to see people when you ask direct questions that just need a yes or no answer, and people add comments which have nothing to do with the question asked.

Is it just me or am I totally lost? Ideas why that people do this and not think for themselves?
