Is it illegal to take photos with your camera on the plane out of the window.
What if I had it on silent mode and flash off?
Would I still be able to do that?
I'm in New Zealand by the way.

Clicking pictures in the plane is not banned at all unless you wish to take snaps of
1. Pilots & the Cockpit .......... and
2. of someone sitting in the Loo :-)

Go Ahead & become a great inflight photographer. Just keep your profile low and don't let the whole plane know about your shooting venture.

The flight attendants probably wont like it and probably discourage you from doing it, but its not illegal.

Does your phone have a "flight mode"? If so, it's legal to use it in flight. But as soon as you turn it off "flight mode" it's illegal. Most phones with "flight mode" are able to take picture while in it.
