One of my teachers said it is illegal and that you could be expelled for it, is this true?

- I live in Pennsylvania, if that matters.
& I didn't go to school because I woke up with a stomach ache, and obviously it didn't last 12 hours until I had to go to work, so I went. Besides, I'm getting paid to be at work and I'm not failing any of my classes.
