is it illegal to carry an asp baton , or maglite for self-defense?

i currently have a 3 cell d maglite i carry around, because i dont live in the best of places, but i don't want to carry a knife anymore ,and brass knuckles are illegal, I'm not sure about the asp baton but if i get one i want to know if I'll be hassled for it by police, same with the maglite

no stupid answers,

police or people who know the laws only
yo kelly im not a little kid im a trained mma fighter i wreck people, in the real world fights dont go down like you think.

also i live in new jersey if you know the laws.
 
I live in Houston and i went to jail for a baton so its prob illegal there 2 its not worth goin to jail over ened up costn me bout 3 gs
 
mag lite or a baton legal to carry illegal to use learning when and where to use anything would be smarter might make you feel better but if one take it away from you then what. not any difference than a stick of fire wood ink pen car keys
