Is it illegal for a car dealership to sell a car with the wrong motor in it and

its bin nothing but problems? So I bought a 2000 VW Jetta and the car has a 1.8t stamp on the chassie saying it came with a 1.8 and the dealership put a 2.0T that came in New Beatles. This car has bin nothing but problems. I took the car to smog to see if this car would even smog and they said no way. VW Wont even touch the motor because it didnt come in the car. What can I do Legally Im from california. Please Help
