Because Catholic Church says that suicide is a mortal sin and who else though is going to commit suicide except depressed people?
Illness is something that a person is not blamed for or responsible for.
But suicide=mortal sin=hell equals something someone is responsible for and their wrongdoing.
So i cant see how it really can be possible for Catholic Church to say that they believe in depression as an illness-it just doesn't make rational sense and add up-because you dont put people in hell who suffered from illness and something that was afflicting them.
Are they just saying that they belive in depression as illness to appease psychiatrists and the media?
I wish they though would just come out and be honest so that way it makes more sense. If they believe that depression is the end result of someones sin eg:if a person smoked lots and then got cancer and then got depression due to recieving the cancer diagnosis,so the end result of their depression was due to their sin of over-smoking,i wish that they would just say this.
Perhaps all depression is from sin somewhere anyway?
On otherhand i understand that depressed people blame themselves already too much and that saying harsh blaming things makes them worse.
But..isnt honesty the best policy? So if Catholic Church thinks that depression is not an illness but due to the persons sin or lack of courage or wrongthinking then they should just come out and say so.
How else can you connect them saying that suicides go to hell except if you say it isn't illness in their eyes?
For them to say to depressed "we believe that depression is an illness and that your suffering and it isn't your fault but if you kill yourself from the suffering you will go to hell" seems hypocritical, doubletalk and cruel.
Hey why blame me and shoot the messenger?
I didn't make up the 7 deadly sin and the Catholic Church has never denounced them so i am not speaking anything madeup.
Also, you are fearmongerers as to speak lies against something means to purposely with intent fullknowingly slander something to cause harm, and it doesn't entail simply querying something that troubles you about certain organisations so anyone of you who tries to make question askers afraid of God or afraid God thinks they are 'slandering' simply for asking questions,is doing harm and wrongdoing and you should question youselves and assess the way you are acting harmfully.
