Is it harder to learn 2 languages at the same time?

I know some Spanish (maybe 400 vocabulary words and a handful of phrases) but recently found a fellow student at my school who can teach me allot more, this is great :)

now my girlfriend is Turkish and speak both Turkish and English perfectly (but no Spanish)
she is not a huge fan of Turkish but I want to meet her in her native tongue you know cause I love her so much I want to know her on that level so recently (yesterday) I started learning way Turkish phrases such as "seni seviyorum" - I love you. and "iyi gecelar" - good night.

I'm becoming very interested in Turkish now too will it be harder and/or confusing to learn both Spanish and Turkish at the same time or will it actually help??
when I said meet her I meant mentally not psychically - she isn't in Turkey or anything she is here
