Is it hard to learn to ride a motorcycle?

I've never driven or even been on a motorcycle. My whole life I've wanted a Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic, or the Softail Deluxe. I've decided life is short and to get one. Will this bike be too much for a beginner? And where should I go to learn and get comfortable with riding a motorcycle. Also, does it cost anything to get the motorcycle driver's license? Thank in advance.

First things first... Most states require you to get a motorcycle endorsement for your driver's license before you can legally ride. The best way to do that is to sign up for a Motorcycle Safety Foundation basic rider's course at a location near where you live. This 2-day weekend course will teach you the basics you need to know to ride the correct (safe) way, and to get your motorcycle endorsement. You can also talk to the instructors about what kind of motorcycle you should buy and where you should ride to gain experience during the first few months.
