is it hard to connect the kickdown cable on my chevy turbo 400 transmission?

i put my turbo 400 transmission in my car and forgot to connect the kickdown cable and i was wondering if its hard to connect it to the transmission itself and if so could i just block off the hole somehow and manualy downshift or would that hurt the transmission
