AS an engineer? I am third year engineering student and have the opportunity to sign a contract with the military and do some co-op right now and some service after graduation, in return for them paying for most of my education debts. Why would this be haram? I think it is a sort of Jihad, knowing that my designs are being used to help the people of Iraq and Afghanistan and to civilize the misogynist, barbaric terrorists like Al-Qaeda and Taliban.
