Is it fair to say the Vietnam War was the first major defeat of US military forces

since the Civil War? I was once told this by a History teacher some years ago, that the defeat in Vietnam of American troops was the first since the American Cival war, and im just wondering if this is a valid statement.

I am currently writing an A2 Level History coursework piece on Vietnam and would be looking to insert this idea if turned out to be plausible.
