It's easy to pick up the basics but it's a lot of hard work to be good.

yes, its easy to do. I taught myself.
but it takes time and patience especially when you're not used to the plucking and stuff but after a while (meaning practice!) it's fun.
really handy skill too. if you're into music and stuff like that.
go to ultimate-guitar.com they have some tutorials.. or search youtube they have some tutorials there too.

it is once you know the chords but i think it takes alot more effort to be actually good at it

im grade 5
its pretty hard
basics are mainly easy, you just need to keep your fingers in one shape, or remeber chord shapes, look at lessons on youtube if u wnt

i guess it depends on how much you like the guitar sound you know...it can be easy to learn the basics and with a little determination and work,you can pick up a few easy songs in a short while.
But to be realy good,to really impress,you need to work,allot,but it sure is worth it,plus,if can afford a good guitar,you get a kick even out of playing one note.
