Is it cruel to keep my Betta in a empty fish bowl (temporarily)?

My betta is sick with white spot.
It also sounds like he was getting bullied (his fins have been nibbled right down.. it seems to have stopped now)

i cured all the other fish from white spot. But he hasn't yet recovered. (which means he could pass it back onto the other fish again.. right?)

I want to take him out of his tank, (I can then re-treat his white spot) and put him in a bowl (it would have no heater, no filter, no gravel, just, a normal fish bowl)

According to my mum it's cruel, and he'll get 'bored'
is this true? (bearing in mind she knows no more about fish then i do)
Would he be better off staying in his tank.
Or in a bowl?

HA! Fish don't get bored! They don't have the brain capacity to feel boredom, their memories like 3 seconds, everything is new and exciting to a fish!
