Is it constitutionally legal for the federal gov't to mandate purchasing of a retail

produce? Definition of "privilege": 1.a right, advantage, favor, or immunity specially granted to one; esp., a right held by a certain individual, group, or class, and withheld from certain others or all others

As driving a motor vehicle in the U.S. is considered a "privilege", it's therefore subject to certain state government imposed requirements, such as purchasing "automobile insurance".
Simply put, in most states if you don't purchase "automobile insurance" you cannot legally be driving.

So what is the federal government's justification that would REQUIRE us to purchase "health insurance"? Isn't health insurance a retail product/service? A profit based industry in the private sector?

If this health "law" were legally allowed, could then the government require us to purchase only certain vehicles in the interest of public safety? Or the purchase of any particular item in the interest of public safety?

If the federal government can "mandate" the purchase of a retail product, what are the limits?
Is this a good thing for the government to step in and "solve" our health care issues?
Should the government be MORE involved in solving our countries problems, or LESS involved?
To be faiir, I caught my misspelling of "product", only AFTER I posted my question and didn't feel like rewriting the whole thing. But thx for pointing it out.
To those of you that seem to be in "favor" of Obama's health care mandate, I believe it is illegal. Just because the government deems it so, does not make it legal. Just because it's in the interest of the people, doesn't make it legal or even right.
As I mentioned above, if the government can issue a law that "requires" people to purchase a retail product, under the premise that it's for America's good, then they could require everyone to purchase whatever product the President decides suits his own agenda. Sorry folks, that's NOT how the U.S. government works.

Bottom line, this "forced" health care is B.S. BTW, anyone that drives a motorcycle without a helmet, is an idiot & a fool; but there shouldn't be a law against being an idiot & a fool, REGARDLESS of what it costs taxpayers for irresponsible bikers that suffer head injuries & can't afford to cover medical costs.

The same for seatbelts.

If I choose to not purchase health insurance, that is MY RIGHT! Regardless if taxpay
