Is it better to have your sports listed as a class on your high school transcripts?

I have no idea how your school runs Cross Country but my high school had cross country, hockey, volleyball, archery etc. as extracurricular activities. Colleges ask you to list your extracurricular activities. If you did not get a grade for cross country it would not be listed as a "class." You could list is elsewhere on you application. Your GPA is extremely important. If it is genuinely a "course" and you received a grade then I suspect you have to leave it in. Did you ask your guidance counselor?

Hello.

I've been wondering what's the best answer to this question in terms of my GPA. See, I'm unsure of whether I should keep Cross Country as a class on my high school transcript since the season has been over for about a month now. If I take out this "class" from my schedule, then my GPA will be higher since I'll be taking out a non-AP/honors course. But then, if I do, I'm afraid the colleges I applied to might be skeptical of whether I was in that sport if it doesn't show up on my transcript. What should I do?
When I talked to my guidance counselor, he said it was up to me on whether I can keep it as a class or not. In Cross Country, I did get a grade for it but it was more based on attendance to practice, behavior, etc. On my college apps, I did list it under Extra-Curricular.
